As a Ramón y Cajal fellow he joined the Departamento de Física Teórica & IFIC at the University of Valencia in January 2015, where he conducts research on theoretical aspects of gravitation and quantum theory, with emphasis on the dynamics of the very early universe, black hole structure, singularities, quantum radiation, and extensions of Einstein’s theory of General Relativity.

He has contributed to more than 70 research papers, 2 review articles, 3 book chapters, has edited the book <a href=”https://www.intechopen.com/books/open-questions-in-cosmology”> Open Questions in Cosmology </a>, and is Editor of the journal <a href=”http://www.mdpi.com/journal/universe”> Universe </a>. He has supervised 1 PhD thesis (4 more in progress), 10 MSc projects (TFMs), and 7 BSc works (TFGs).

Dr. Olmo regularly collaborates as a <a href=”https://publons.com/author/1151821/gonzalo-j-olmo#profile” > referee </a>with more than 20 international journals and in 2014 he was named “Outstanding Referee” by the American Physical Society. He is an evaluator of national an international scientific agencies, such as ANEP, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation), CINECA (Italy), the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the National Center of Science and Technology of Kazakhstan, and FNRS (Belgium).

Joaquín Sarrión Esteve

He is currently RyC Senior Research Fellow, Lecturer in Constitutional Law and Academic Secretary of the Master’s Degree in Legal Practice at the The National Distance Education University.

He previously worked as Lecturer in Procedural and Constitutional Law at UNED (2010-2013) and as Lecturer in Constitutional Law and Administrative Law at the University of Valencia (2013-2016).

He graduated in Law with Extraordinary Award from the University of Valencia (2004), and with an Honor Award by the Valencia Autonomous Community Government (2005). He completed his DPhil Eur. in EU Law at the Alma Mater Studiorum-Università di Bologna in 2011 (Dottorarto di Ricerca in Diritto dell’Unione Europea) awarded with the Economic and Law Sciences Prize by the Spanish Royal Academy of Doctors.

He has done extended study and research at national and international institutions (selection) as the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies (Constitutional law and Political Science Postgraduate Program, with Final Award), the Spanish Constitutional Court (Research Fellowship), the UNED (Master in European Union, and FPI Grant), the Royal Spanish College at Bologna and the Centro Interdipartimentale di Ricerca sul Diritto Europeo at the Bologna University ((PhD Studies), the European Studies Centre at the King’s College of London (Visiting Researcher, Erasmus Exchange Program), the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of Autonomous National University of Mexico-UNAM (Postdoctoral Santander Young Researchers Grant), the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies-IALS at the University of London (Postdoctoral IALS Research Fellowship) the Centre for Biomedical Law, Coimbra University (Postdoctoral Santander Young Researchers Grant) and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Centre Rights and Science R&S of the University of Perugia (Posdoctoral Valencian Autonomous Community Mobility grant).

His principal research interest is European Union (EU) integration process in relation to fundamental rights protection from a multilevel constitutionalism perspective. And his research lines include: fundamental rights and economic freedoms conflicts, constitutional fundamental rights protection, Biometric and new technologies and fundamental rights protection in a multilevel system, including the civil use of drones.

He participated in several international and national research projects, and he collaborated as a Legal Expert to the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA Spanish National Focal Point from 2011 to 2014), and Legal Expert of the Council of Europe (Bioethics Committee), and he is member of several international and national research groups and the Coordinator of the Emerging Research Group “Challenges of the civil use of drones”.

It is important to note the several awards that support his work research, inter alia: International Law Award ISDE&FIA 2012, Pastor Delgado Hernández in Human Rights Award, International Award “Joaquín Ruiz Giménez” in Human Rights, Finalist Garrigues Young Jurists Award 2011, and Constitutional Law and Political Science Centre Research Final Award.

Joaquín Sarrión Esteve

Actualmente es Investigador Ramón y Cajal, Profesor de Derecho Constitucional y Secretario del Máster de Acceso a la Abogacía en la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED).

Anteriormente trabajó como Profesor de Derecho Procesal y Derecho Constitucional en la UNED (2010-2013) y como Profesor de Derecho Constitucional y Derecho Administrativo de la Universidad de Valencia (2013-2016).

Se licenció en Derecho con Premio Extraordinario en la Universidad de Valencia (2004), con Mención de Honor a la Excelencia del la Generalitat Valenciana (2005). Completó sus estudios de Doctorado Europeo en Derecho de la UE en la Alma Mater Studiorum-Università di Bologna en 2011 (Dottorarto di Ricerca en Diritto dell’Unione Europea) galardonado con el Premio de Economía y Ciencias Jurídicas por la Real Academia Española Doctores.

Ha desarrollado su estudio e investigación en instituciones nacionales e internacionales (selección) como el Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales (Diploma en Derecho Constitucional Ciencia Política, con Premio a la Memoria Final), el Tribunal Constitucional (Beca de Investigación), la UNED (Master en Unión Europea y Beca FPI), el Real Colegio de España de Bolonia y el Centro Interdipartimentale di Ricerca sul Diritto Europeo en la Universidad de Bolonia (estudios de Doctorado), el Centre of European Law del King’s College de Londres (Investigador Visitante, Erasmus Exchange Program), el Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM (Beca de Movilidad para Jóvenes Investigadores de Santander Universidades), el Institute of Advanced Legal Studies-IALS en la University of London (Postdoctoral IALS Research Fellowship), el Centro de Direito Biomédico de la Universidad de Coimbra (Beca de Movilidad para Jóvenes Investigadores de Santander Universidades), y el Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Centre Rights and Science R&S (Ayuda para estancias de personal investigador doctor, de la Generalitat Valenciana).

Su interés principal es la investigación sobre el proceso de integración de la Unión Europea (UE) en relación con la protección de los derechos fundamentales, desde la perspectiva multinivel. Sus líneas de investigación incluyen: los conflictos entre derechos fundamentales y libertades económicas, la protección de derechos fundamentales, las tecnologías biométricas y nuevas tecnologías y la protección de derechos fundamentales en un sistema multinivel incluyendo el uso civil de drones.

Ha participado en diversos proyectos de investigación tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, y ha colaborado como Legal Expert de la Agencia Europea de Derechos Fundamentales (formó parte del FRA Spanish National Focal Point de 2011 a 2014), y Legal Expert del Consejo de Europea (Comité de Bioética). Es también miembro de varias asociaciones y grupos de investigación tanto nacionales como internacionales, siendo Coordinador del Grupo de Investigación Emergente “Retos del uso civil de los drones”.

Es importante destacar los diversos premios que apoyan su trabajo de investigación, entre otros: Premio Internacional ISDE & FIA 2012, Premio Pastor Delgado Hernández en Derechos Humanos, Premio Internacional Joaquín Ruiz Giménez en Derechos Humanos, Finalista del Premio Garrigues para Jóvenes Juristas 2011 en su modalidad profesional, Premio Final de Investigación de Derecho Constitucional y Ciencia Política del CEPC.
